Beach day

A busy weekend in the shed/studio has seen about 20 little paintings completed for a sale next week. This little one is of no beach inparticular but it's sure to remind someone of a beach they know somewhere. For sale next week if unsold.

Daisies in love

While having breakfast on the front porch a few weekends ago, I observed the daisies down the driveway. It was midmorning and the sun was going in and out of the clouds. Perceptably the daisies were craining their heads toward the sun and were swaying in the gentle breeze. The sun went in for quite a while and some of them already started to close their petals. The die-hards still had high hopes of the sun coming out again. They all live for the sun - they are in love.

More rain in Melbourne

I'm not quite sure what part of Melbourne this was. It was raining, I was getting wet, taking lots of photos and had to find my way to the bus station in the next half an hour. I did make it!

Raining on North Terrace

This little painting is a study of larger ones that I have done over the last few years. North Terrace is one of my favourite rainy day streets with its wide tree-lined boulevard and reflective pavement.

City rain

This little exercise in tonal work has been done with minimal brushwork and in a monotone. It really borders on being a watercolour painting as the canvas was sprayed with water before painting. Despite its lack of colour it does have a sense of atmosphere that will do well on a larger canvas. One of my favourites this one.
