Walk along the bay

This sweeping view is loosely based on South Australia's southern coast.
This is the first painting that I've done for a long while without using a spot of yellow in the clouds but it seemed to work well on this occasion.

Last glimmer - Coolum

Close up view

The last bit of sun hits some parts of the beach at Coolum as beach-walkers are out in force enjoying the coolness of the end of the day. The wide shallows reflect the clouds that are enjoying the last bit of light before darkness envelopes them.
Also show a close up of part of the painting.

Goolwa beach path

During a visit to my favourite beach I was loading the car to go home and saw how paintable the beach path was. The painting has a solitary feel to it and wonder if it needs a figure on the beach. Many people were on the beach searching for cockles. It was a wonderful sight with the wide reflective shallows coming in to play.

John in oils

I have redone the portrait of John in oils - well actually went over the acrylic painting in oil just to see the difference. Much easier to work with of course and the colours better.

Acrylic portrait of Channel 7 TV personality John Riddell. It is from a photo taken at Artworx Gallery during an exhibition that he officially opened last month.
The difficulties in painting portraits in acrylic were quite apparent while painting but it was a good exercise.

Burn-off near Kadina

From a photo I took over 3 years ago of a controlled burn near Kadina in South Australia. Towering plume was impressive from many kilometres away and loved the earthy colours in the smoke.
