Pirie Street crossing

I love the feeling of this painting. I paint too and I need to learn to be more subtle on occasion. I love color, and wanted to learn all about it, but sometimes it speaks too loudly. I will be trying new approaches.

Thanks for your comments Sandra. I believe colour is over-rated and tone is the real key to painting.
I know a lot of artists are fascinated by colour but really colourful works tend to lack a focal point - the eye is drawn in all directions and can't settle. Paintings work best when there are parts where the eye can rest and a good focal point.
