Town Hall - Walkerville

Walkerville is very close to town but it has a lovely calm feel to it.

Winter afternoon - Stephen Terrace

The vista from Stephen Terrace, Walkerville is beautiful during winter months. The shadows are long and the Adelaide hills look magical.

Girl on the beach

This painting is an oldie, but the original acrylic has been repainted in oils. It was a delight to paint. The original work was at least three years old and as most artists will attest, a work that old will need fiddling! I was amazed a few weeks ago while watching a program on Australian artist Jeffery Smart. A retrospective exhibition of his was being held somewhere, and art from all kinds of collectors and galleries were brought together to make up the show. Unbeknowns to the organisers Mr Smart brought his paints to the exhibition to touch up some of the works - most of which were part of other people's collections. It was very funny.

Waymouth St, Adelaide

One of my favourite wet-weather views of
Adelaide. The 'Full' sign on the carpark would not be a pleasant sight if you were looking for a place to park in the rain!

Rain at McLaren Vale - new

I've changed the painting that was posted a few days ago to include more of a focal point with the couple and child crossing the road. Closer and darker foliage in the foreground. The road was made darker and a few other things were fiddled with.

Portrait study

I've recently purchased some water-soluble oil paints and tried them out this morning on this little portrait study. They were lovely to use without smelly stuff that usually attends oil paints. What a pleasure it was too, to be able to clean the brush with water!

Rain at McLaren Vale

The little town of McLaren Vale is nestled among the famous vineyards of the same name. It is even more lovely in the rain.

Moon River

Is there anything so magical as a moonlit night when fluffy floaty clouds are illuminated by moon. The soft light carresses the landscape and reflects beautifully on the waterways of the world.

Afternoon walk

What a better place for a walk than some wide shallows on a coolish afternoon.
Painting completed during a demonstration afternoon at Flagstaff Hill Rotary Art Show.
